SCCM for non domain and isolated setup
Hi, We have a environmnet in which couple of servers are work group and couple of servers in isolated setup. We have SCCM and SCOM in our core environment where all servers in Domain are configured to monitor through SCOM and updates and inventpry are managed through SCCM. Now Management is looking to extend this to all the servers including non domain and isolated also. I understand that non domain clients can be still achieved through manual installation of agent and specifc port opening. But how can we achieve for isolated clients ? If we install saperate SCCM and SCOM server for isolated servers, then is there any feasibility to manage this through central management console which will help us in reporting and day to day management. Kindly help...Regards:Mahesh

What you mean by isolated environment? There is no connectivity (at all) with the core environment? If so, I don' think there is no possibility other than treating them as internet based clients (IBCM)?Anoop C Nair - @anoopmannur MY BLOG: http://anoopmannur.wordpress.com User Group: ConfigMgr Professionals This posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties/guarantees and confers no rights.

Hi, Isolated client means we have a saperate LAB setup which is not connected to production network. I was just thinking if we can install saperate SCCM server in this lab itself then is there any feasibility to integrate the both reports in one console to manage from central administration point of view. If at all you created a configmgr server for those client. How the server will talk to the servers in the CORE/ PRODUCTION network? I don't think, that is possible.Anoop C Nair - @anoopmannur MY BLOG: http://anoopmannur.wordpress.com User Group: ConfigMgr Professionals This posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties/guarantees and confers no rights.

For reporting purpose, we are planning to have a one on one VPM connectivity in between these two servers, but we cant have them in same domain. Regards:Mahesh

ConfigMgr server in your production environment should be able to manage the VPN clients. How many clients are there ? I don't think you need to have seperate ConfigMgr server for that.
