SCCM and new domain
Hi, We are currently deploying a new domain and wish to migrate from an old domain which has SCCM at some point in the future. We are under tight timescales so we would like to build a primary site and create our own hierachy then connect it as a child of the existing central site in the old domain so the existing heirachy filters down and populates the new domain. Then when the old domain has been fully migrated cut the link and promote our child in the new domain to be the central site. Can anyone say if this will work? Has anyone achieved anything similar? Can anyone see any issues or anything to watch for? Many thanks in advance for all efforts.

Just another idea: can't you just install ConfigMgr in the new domain to manage the clients in the old (current) domain?

Hello - Also, you can go through below thread (if you are not yet gone through :)). http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/configmgrsetup/thread/697341fd-8c9e-4a24-bd9e-2f03f5704bb6/ Extract from above thread Jannes AlinkMVP, Moderator 0 Vote As Helpful Hi, Start at the top of your hierarchy. Install a new SCCM server in the new forest/domain. Make the new server a child of the existing SCCM server. You can now sync data between them just like you do with a primary child site. Keep in mind that a trust between the domains must be created. In a later phase you can disconnect the new server from his older parent so it becomes the central site for the new domain. You can now install the primary child sites and the secondary sites. When a site is ready you can configure the boundaries so it will manage your clients. My advise is not to do it all at once, just step by step and site by site. Hope this helps. Anoop C Nair

I agree with John, the pan will work. I have done the exact same a few times when we had to split a few companies.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund
