SCCM and Windows 7 OSD
We currently have SCCM 2007 SP1 R2 installed w/ MDT 2008 and WAIK 1.1. We are looking into deploying Windows 7 and want to utilize OSD. I cant find anywhere that says what we have to do to get SCCM ready to start deploying Windows 7. I am assuming upgrade to R3 and SP2, and upgrading to the latest MDT, but what else? If anyone has any pointers/documentation that I could look at to get started with Windows 7 OSD I would appreciate it. Thanks

You do not need R3 but you do need R2. Go to www.deploymentcd.com and get the free download. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|

John meant SP2 above (not R2). Windows-noob.com also has a lot of great info. MMS always has great content also. Chris Nackers and Tim Mitner are giving a great get started quickly session.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

here's a guide I did for Deploying Windows 7 Using SCCM 2007 Sp2 to deploy Windows 7 Deploy 7 (4 parts) as Jason says you'll need SCCM 2007 Sp2 to support Deploying Windows 7, but before upgrading to SP2, uninstall your current version of WAIK as the SP2 upgrade includes a new WAIK to support Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 r2 cheers niall My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

Is it possible, that someone can explain what is needed from the installation to make OSD work. I've been banging my head on this for a week now. I used the Deploy 7 how to but whats weird is my test box will NOT download the stupid package from the DP. I verified the DP has the package, there's not revisions in the folders yet it still has issues. Can someone explain how 2007 R3 should be setup for deploys? Does MDT 2010 need to be there? Right now our DP is on the same segment, the test PC can access the computer. I'm also running this RAP as a Domain Admin on the box. It makes no sense. My original thread is here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/configmgrosd/thread/92f5a853-a40d-4ce6-ae3a-f215b175eec5 If anyone can help that would be great, I also put up log files of the issue. Thanks!
