SCCM and SCOM using SQL Server 2008
Hi guys, Can SCCM 2007 with SP1 and SCOM 2007 with SP1 database using SQL Server 2008 clean installation? I found KB971541 for SCOM, so the database can be installed to SQL server 2008, is it right ?rgds, Krisna

Supported configurations for ConfigMgr SP1: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161823.aspx (so yes, SQL 2008 is supported). You can co-locate both databases on the same SQL server, but I would not recommend it from a performance point of view.

If I recall correctly you won't be able to use the same instace of Reporting Services for SCCM since SCOM will use it for its reporting. SCCM will have to stick with the current web reports.http://www.sccm-tools.com http://sms-hints-tricks.blogspot.com

word on the street says there is a workaround that. the SCCM requires the default instance of ssrs whils scom can make do with a named instance. check this out below http://www.myitforum.com/forums/tm.aspx?high=&m=193894&mpage=1#193905

To Torsten : according to http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrannouncements/thread/729a17a4-eafa-4c98-b5d5-280aaa063f3a I have to use SCCM 2007 SP2 to be working with SQL Server 2008, the supported scenario, first I have to install SQL Server 2005, install the hotfix and upgrade to SQL Server 2008,so I can't use clean installatioin SQL Server 2008 ? To Matthew and muppielee : thx, nice info m8 :) rgds, Krisna
