SCCM and SCOM on the same server
Hi, I have SCCM 2007 already installed on a physical server with One-6 Core processor (XEON) and 10GB memory. I have SQL server Enterprise installed. I want to install SCOM also on the same server. I have created another database instant for SCOM. But I am trying to deploy SCOM it was not giving anoption to select the database instant option. Can anybody guide me the way to install SCOM as mentioned above. THK

Hi For named SQL instances, just make sure the correct port is specified on the install and make sure any requireed firewall rules are in place: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb309428.aspx Specifically: If SQL Server is installed with a named instance, it is probably using a dynamic port. To identify the port, do the following: Run SQL Server Configuration Manager. Open SQL Server Network Configuration. Open Protocols for INSTANCE1 (or the instance that is running under it). Open TCP/IP. Click IP Addresses. The port is under IPAll (usually the TCP Dynamic Ports). In general I wouldn't put an SCCM and SCOM database on the same SQL Server but that would depend to some extent on the number of servers you are monitoring \ scope of SCCM deployment.
