SCCM Wallpaper on users background after OSD
Hi, The first user that logs to a computer deployed with SCCM gets the SCCM wallpaper by default, even if the user has a roaming profile. If I log-off and log-on again, the correct wallpaper is shown. Is this a known issue? Any fix? I already tried a restart action at the end of the TS with the same results Thanks.

I just finished installing SCCM R2 on a clean Win2008R2, with a clean AD (2003 Native Domain Level). I'm using MVLS image, captured by SCCM with the default TS. I'm using only the default steps in the task sequence to deploy the captured image. In the end, the first user that logs in still gets the SCCM wallpaper. Log off and log on fixes the problem. Wallpaper registry entries for the user show the correct (not the SCCM) wallpaper. Display properties show the default Windows 7 wallpaper selected as well. SMSTS.log clearly shows a "Restore default wallpaper" log entry that runs without an error. The only warnings I have on the file are related to NAP and SUP (I'm not running this roles oin my site servers, so I'm ignoring them for now). The OSD task is completing with sucess. I tried both physical and hyper-v VMs. My setups, that result in the error, are as follows: - Tried with two different domains. One production, one clean. - Active Directory (2003 native forest and domain levels) running on 2008 R2. Also tried with a 2003 R2 Domain Controller. - No WINS on the infrastructure - One primary site server running SCCM 2007 SP2 + R2, running on 2008 R2. Only SCCM is running on the server. SCCM being published to AD and DNS. Installed on 4-6-2010, with updates obtained in that day as well - Site database running on a remote SQL2008 Standard server. SCCM machine is Local Admin on the SQL machine - Windows 7 Professional from MVLS: Both untouched image (direct from DVD) and captured. Also tried an OEM install.wim, with the same problem outcome - All prerequisites checks succeed, except WSUS (I'm not using SUP) - SCCM physical and on Hyper-V (tried both) - Physical Clients and Hyper-V (tried both) - No additional software packages or drivers (just the SCCM client) - It only seems to happen when the user has a roaming profile.

Our Windows 7 images are doing this as well. For us it seemed to be only the first time a user logs in, then after a restart it goes back to normal.

It works the same way for me. First user that logs in and has a roaming profile will see the OSD wallpaper as his desktop background. I think this should be some problem related to "TranscodedWallpaper.jpg". It seems like Win7 is not "transcoding" the new wallpaper, and defaulting to a previous one that probably is the one from OSD. This is just a theory tho. My current "workaround" is to change the OSD wallpaper to the Win7 default Wallpaper. At least it is bearable. Still, I already got complains from some users that their wallpaper was missing. Btw, the problem only seems to occur when I don't do a User State migration (ex.: clean install; reinstall without USMT,...).

I found a better workaround. At the end of the TS run the following command: %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\shutdown.exe /r /t 30

Ricdgr - this was also happening to use. Just to be clear: At the end of the TS, when all is said and done, you just inserted a "Run Command Line" item and inserted the command "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\shutdown.exe /r /t 30"? Did you enter in a username/password to run the command or did you just use the system account? Was this part of an MDT section, or could it run without it? What do you mean by "My current "workaround" is to change the OSD wallpaper to the Win7 default Wallpaper"? You changed it in the BootPE section? Thanks, Reuv
