Hi,
We have 1 central site and 2 primary child sites. When we deploy updates from the central site to clients in the child sites everything is working fine.
All child sites have a SUP role that connected to the central site (downstream). The central site use proxy to connect to the internet.
My questions are:
Is it possible to manage SU from the child site (create update list and downloading SU for packages)?
if so, do we need to connect the child sites to the internet?
Can we manage SU from a remote console?
Kobi
I can create list, packages etc. from the child site. but when i try to download software updates i'm getting an error.
looking inside "PatchDownloder.log" we get the following errors:

I suggest you uninstall it and reinstall according to the instructions here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633236.aspxbut make sure that you installed WSUS according to the docs too. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693980.aspx
If those two docs are followed,WSUSis installed cleanly and never used stand alone on the boxand there are not GPO's software updates are failrly fool proof and always work.
Hi
HttpSendRequest failed 12029
ERROR: DownloadContentFiles() failed with hr=0x80072efd
I was informed by firewall team that the proxy server name has been changed. After I update the proxy server settings throgh SCCM CONSOLE I am getting the above mentioned error (which was posted in this earlier by Kobile)
Do I need to stop and start any services after the settings have been modified. But I see in the wsusctrl.log the proxy settings changes have been reflected. But patchdownloader.log has above mentioned error and patches are not getting downloaded.
Can someone help.
SCCMSRI - I had the exact same problem as you. I had the proxy set in the SUP settings, but I was getting the same error. I fixed the issue by also specifying the proxy address in Internet Explorer of the server I was initiating the download from. It instantly fixed the issue and started pulling down the updates.
Hope that helps.
Noel.
