SCCM Site Database Expected Growth Rate
Hi,
We have installed SCCM Server and Site Database on remote SQL server 2008 R2 with the considration of 1000 computers for one of the customer with the following features.
Windows Updates patch management
Softare distribution
Inventory
Meetering
OSD with max 2 images
Looking answers for following queries:
1. What is the expected growth of the Site database once all the clients are reporting to SCCM perfectly and the growth rate (%) it can grown up to time to time.
2. What about the SQL Server, do we need to purge the SQL logs or what is its maintanance criteria.
Can someone redirect me to appropriate articles if available.
Regards,
Ankur

Hi Ankur,
There is very little information about this out there, so I kept track of it during my latest deployment and blogged about it here -- http://blog.danovich.com.au/2011/04/05/sccm-database-size/ .
In summary I found that you should allow 500MB for system databases, then allow 5MB for each client you are going to deploy.
This number allows space for SQL data and log files. My deployment included almost all features of SCCM including OSD (many driver packages), Software Updates, approx 200 software packages and around 15 secondary sites.

Two handy capacity planners, bit dated now, but should give you some value

Its more a rule of thumb than a precise science. For example If you alter your HINV your data requirements will change, there are several areas in which you can make changes and increase the database size as well as network utilisation.
