SCCM Setup in 2nd Domain
Hi, I've read a lot of articles about setup for multiple domains and forests but some have been contradicting. Currently we have our primary domain with 1 SCCM Primary site and 5 secondaries. We just setup a two-way transitive trust with another forest with 1 domain. Eventually we will be migrating their domain into ours but it's looking to be a few years out. We are looking at putting a local distribution point at the remote site/domain to cut down on the WAN traffic. Would the following steps be accurate? Configure Boundary for 2nd forest by using IP range Configure Discovery Method (I assume I could only use Network Discovery?) Add the Server locator Point Install a Secondary Site with the DP Role configure in the remote Forest. Configure Client Push account to distribute clients-Craig

Hi Craig We've got a similar yet significantly more complex situation in our environment at present. I would recommend that you install a primary site in the adjacent forest (you'll need to configure the database in the same domain) and configure its parent as your existing SCCM primary server. from that point on, secondaries in the other forest use the primary server in the same forest and AD integration works fine. You can still manage packages, advertisements, etc... all from the central site. you're hierarchy would then have your existing SCCM Server at the top of the hierarchy with the new primary server in the other forest beneath it.Kriss Milne, MCSE Infrastructure Specialist
