SCCM Secondary Site Server Reinstall issue
Hi Anoop, The only SMS-MP entry that exists in System Management is for the primary site server - can I leave that alone? The only object in System Management referring to the 2nd secondary site right now is the mSSMSSite object. Thanks, Will

It's safe to delete the objects that refer to the old secondary site. The primaries objects should remain untouched (no need to worry if you delete something accidentially: those objects will be created/updated once per hour automatically).Torsten Meringer |

Hello - I would suggest to remove it from the System Management container.SMS-Site and SMS-MP entries. Otherwise, sometimes it will cause some confusion for the clients.Anoop C Nair

Hi, I have an SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 primary site server and am looking to configure 2 secondary site servers (2007 SP2 R2) I have one installed successfully. However, I needed to reinstall the second secondary site server due to an incorrect site friendly name (Surely this should be editable some other way?!!) Here are the steps I took: 1. Ran setup directly from the secondary site server and uninstalled SCCM from the setup wizard 2. All appeared to work fine, except one thing - setup was unable to remove the mSSMSSite object for the secondary site code from the system management container in AD. The computer object has full control over the container so I am not sure why that was - log just said "Could not remove cn=SMS-Site-<site> from Active Directory" . 3. On the primary site server, I right clicked on the secondary site and clicked delete. I then ran preinst /delsite <site> <siteparent> and preinst /deljob <site> 4. Finally I checked the server for any remaining registry keys, shares, local groups. I am reasonably content that all traces of the secondary site have been removed - except that one object in the system management container. As I wish to reinstall the site server now and reuse the site code, my question is - do I need to manually delete the above mSSMSSite object, or will the Site system simply remove it over time? Is there any way to force SMS to do a site refresh and delete the orphaned site code definition? Alternatively, can I simply reinstall the site without deleting the object or will setup bomb out if the object already exists? Thanks!
