I recently upgrade my sccm 2007 sp1 to sp2 after that I can’t do push install on clients. The I look on the Management Point Installation Logs MPSetup.Log and MpMsi.log and I found that the MP is not installed it fail with <06-16-2011 14:37:40> Fatal MSI Error - mp.msi could not be installed.

Resolution:
Uninstalled the ConfigMgr client from the Site Server.
Uninstalled the Management Point role and then rebooted the site server.
Reinstalled the Management Point role.
Reinstalled the SMS client

Mp failed to install
mpmsi.log:
Product: SMS Management Point -- Error 25006. Setup was unable to create the Internet virtual directory CCM_Incoming

Reinstalling Bits extension resolved the problem in my env
No reboot needed

 

John, I follow both steps, but I still having the same error.

 

 

I can't also enable bits on de Default Web Site. I having this error message "an error ocurred while enabling BITS uploads. Please Check the event log for more details about the exception. Exception message: External component has thrown an exception."

I checked de event viewr but I can't find a related error.

 

I had called to MS Technical Support, they told me if I had a conficker policy, and yes it was set, this policy set read and execute permissions for System and Administrator users in the folder c:\windows\tasks used for the mp installation to create  tasks for installing the mp, I changed the system and administrators user to full control after thar I could install de management point.

 

This fixed my issue I am using Server 2008 R2 and sccm 2012 thanks a lot for the help!!!
