SCCM SP2 Secondary site PMPS keep on Failing
HI - We are running with SCCM Sp2 and noticed that secondary site PMPs are not stable and failing and noticed that IIS starts showing error 500.
When I looked at services SMS Agent Host was not running I started that and checked the IIS that didn't resolve the issue.
Then I tried below steps that solved the issue. However I still not able to find the root cause as thios is happening with some other sites every day or two.
Initially, I thought it was a conflict with MP and client version in those secondary servers.
Is there any possibility like MP going down because SCCM version is SP2 however client version is SP1.
But in my case, all the secondary server clients are SP2 and still problem persists.
1. Removed PMP and tried to re-install. The re-install was also not happening.
2. Reinstalled the SCCM client in the SCCM Secondary server. CCMSETUP.log was showing "Windows installer needs a restart.
3. Restarted and checked. Same issue. SMS agent host was not running.
4. Ran CCMCLEAN.EXE to remove the client and installed it again that resolved the issue.
5. MP also gets successfully installed.Anoop C Nair

HTTP 500 errors can also be caused by connectivity issues where the PMP can't connect to the primary site. I also have seen HTTP 500 error because the primary site server hardware was having disk IO issues and simply couldn't keep up with all the requests
being placed upon it (in that case the primary was on VM)
An easy thing to do is try mplist and mpcert while the server is getting HTTP 500 errors. If cert works but list doesn't that's an issue between the child and parent sites.

Hi - Thanks for the answers. However, I had done all the MP related troubleshooting MPCERT, MPLIST & MPPOLICY (for 400 errors). When the issue is there it won't work and after following the steps mentioned above it started working.
When IIS is showing 500 error then also I can successfully run the MPCERT and MPLIST for PRIMARY site. So there is no connectivity issue.
Would there be any possibility of Version difference of SCCM client and SCCM MP making this issue?
I can resolve the issue by reinstallating the SCCM client installed in the secondary site !!!
Anybody had faced this kind of issue?Anoop C Nair

Hi - It is resolved for that particular site and the issue is coming up with different sites randomly and we are following these steps to resolve the issue. However from this forum what I am looking for is a root cause or wanted to know any other members
in this forum facing same kind of issues.Anoop C Nair
