SCCM Resource Forest deployment
Hi, i have a similar case. My client has two forest, the first is a Resouce Forest with only one domain, the second is a User Forest with only one domain. Where should i install SCCM? to extend the schema. I need SCCM full functionality in the User Forest to manage all computers but a the same time i need patch management, DCM, and End Point Protection in the Resouce Forest Servers. My client doesn´t want WINS to discover services. Thanks in advance

If you want to manage resources in each forest I'd advice you to pick the one (probably the resource forest) and install a central site there. Then install a child primary site in the other. Any other way you do it you will run into a pain. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|

Hello- John i am running into the same problem, Primary AD· abc.pri (users and computers domain) · Forest Level win 2000 · Domain Level win 2003 Secondary AD· abcRF.res.priRF (Mailboxes, office communicator etc, Resource Domain ) · Forest Level win 2003· Domain Level win 2003 do you suggest me the same work around? My question is that if i put a site server in the Resource site and as there is two way tust relationship between the two forest so if i use the IP in SCCm boundary instead of the AD option wont that be a work around instead of putting another child primary ?AMIM MUHAMMAD KHAN | CTTCNET USER GROUP LEAD | EVENT SPEAKER, MCT, MCTS, MCITP-ENTERPRISE, MCSA

Well the client has one ad site and the abc.pri is part of the same forest. Now they have sccm running in that site which is the central primary. Now in the abc.pri site which is a domain in that forest so i dont need to extend the ad scheme for this perticular site, they dont want sccm in this site to report to the central primary so my work around was that i should either buld another sccm server not extending the schema as it is already done and it is obviously forest wide so i put in a central for this site as well with a different three digit site code and if i just define the boundary through ip then it would get all the inventroy from the resource forest and this domain. There are atleast 300 clients in the abc.pri...AMIM MUHAMMAD KHAN | CTTCNET USER GROUP LEAD | EVENT SPEAKER, MCT, MCTS, MCITP-ENTERPRISE, MCSA
