SCCM OSD User State Migration across primary sites
I need clarification on the following scenario, I know I've read the information somewhere on a forum / technet article but I'm not able to find the article again.. Consider the following scenario: Two AD forests, a single flat network/VLAN, a two way trust in place between domains: domainA.forest1.com - contains WinXP systems, SCCM schema is extended domainB.forest2.com - contains Win7 systems, SCCM schema is extended SCCM Central Site A has: Child Primary A (XP) - used to manage WinXP systems in domainA.forest1.com Child Primary B (7) - used to manage Win7 systems in domainB.forest2.com A State migration point is configured for each child primary site. Q: When migrating a WinXP system (across domains/forests) to Win7 using USMT & the state migration point. Please confirm whether (or not) the following will occur: Refresh Scenario (in place upgrade): The WinXP User state is captured to the SMP in Child Primary A (XP). The windows 7 build runs and the system is joined to domainB.forest2.com. The Win7 client is managed by Child Primary B (7) (which is the desired outcome). The USMT restore will fail since the client will not then be able to retrieve the user state from the SMP in Child Primary B (7). Replace Scenario (new computer): will occur same as above except the capture will occur on old computer, restore will occur on new computer, and a computer association record is required - (this will definitely break since the the CA record is required in the primary site and the record does not flow down the infrastruture). Is anyone able to confirm or deny the above for me? Can you please provide your reference too. thanks!
