SCCM OSD Reboots before TASK Sequence Windows Comes
Hi, We have SCCM 2007 R3 with Windows 2008 R2 installed in HyperV and want deploy Windows 7 using OSD TS. My Problem is that the target system reboots before the TASK Sequence Windows comes. I have tried for the network connectivity by F8 , and I am able to ping the server And The Strange thing is that it Happens only some times and not every time. To Resolved this we have to restart the SCCM server itself. I am afraild and dont know wheather its a SCCM server problem or the Target Client System Problem. Pls Help, Thanks Prakash

Hi, Does it start the TS and then reboots? in that case SCCM is downloading a updated Boot-image and then restarts using that boot image, could that be the case? Have you updated the boot image on all servers? Regards, Jrgen-- My System Center blog ccmexec.com -- Twitter @ccmexec

you will need to examine the SMSTS.log file on the client in order to determine the problem, details of how to get this file are included in the link below. Hi Prakash, If I understand you correctly, the computer reboots as soon as it boots into Windows PE, but before you come to the Wizard. Press F8 as soon as Windows PE starts to load and you should be able to retrieve the log file from X:\Windows\Temp\SMSTSLOG\smsts.logWebsite: www.danielclasson.com | LinkedIn: Daniel Classon

Bringing up the CMD will pause the OSD process. Are you able to go to X:\Windows\Temp\SMSTSLOG while in CMD?Website: www.danielclasson.com | LinkedIn: Daniel Classon

There is probably already an error in the log, as the computer reboots at such an early early stage. If you can get a hold of smsts.log for us and post the results here, that would be great.Website: www.danielclasson.com | LinkedIn: Daniel Classon

Hi, Might be a network/network service/firewall issue. Hopefully the log file will be able to help us out a bit.Website: www.danielclasson.com | LinkedIn: Daniel Classon

Bringing up the CMD will pause the OSD process. Quick correction here, starting the command prompt does not pause the task sequence but it will prevent WinPE from rebooting. Daniel and Niall are correct though, without examining smsts.log, there is no way to know what's going on.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys
