SCCM Management Pack Warnings are Repetitive
I seem to be getting the same repetitive alerts and warnings in Ops Mgr 2007 R2 from the SCCM MP. I have checked the log files on the SCCM server and there is only one record which corresponds to this id. When I close out the warning, a few minutes later,
it reappears, with the same database record id, warning, etc. It seems like it is going back to the log again and again and discovering the same old errors it already discoverd. Any way to stop that?
- ConfigMgr 2007 Status: Database Notification Monitor failed to execute a Site Maintenance task.
A new monitored SMS status message on machine SCCM from component SMS_DATABASE_NOTIFICATION_MONITOR with message ID 2401 was found in the site ABC database.
The status message contains message properties
Module Name:
SMS Server
Component:
SMS_DATABASE_NOTIFICATION_MONITOR
Message ID:
2401
Win32 Error:
0
Top Level Site Code:
Database Record ID:
5121301
Thanks,

Just closing an alert in OpsMgr does not make the component healthy. Monitors in OpsMgr are about the health of a component, not about just raising an exception; thus to prevent a monitor from raising an alert, you must correct the issue causing the
monitor from detecting a non-healthy state. Non-healthy states may continue to raise additional alerts because the issue being detected by the monitor has not been corrected.
Have you resolved the issue causing the non-healthy state? Have you tried reset the health state of the monitor?

Ok - I see your point. Although, this case may be different, since all SCCM is doing is reading the DB record from the database. Now, I don't know if there is a "recovery" monitor so to speak that will fix this error message. All I mean to say is that if
OM found a problem, and told me about it, upon which time I said "leave me alone!" (ie. closed the monitor). Why does it popup AGAIN with the SAME error that happened before?
It could be this has happened for other monitors as well and I just haven't noticed. I don't also mean that the State should return to healthy as long as I haven't done anything to repair the health of the agent. At the same time, I don't think I should
be alerted about something Old, something which I already removed from site. If there is a new instance of the same alert from an old time period, then ok.
Dunno - just annoying to constantly get the same alert show up every hour for the same problem. Bigger than that, you never know if there is a new problem or it is just the old reappearance of the old one. Unless I remember the database ID, etc.

Hi Reuvy,
I asked a very similar question ages ago about a similar thing:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrgeneral/thread/cd0518c5-1649-4f18-b184-9421ab1ea4a3
I ended up giving up on the MP as I ended up disabling that many alerts it wasn't doing much in terms of monitoring.
The only way I could get any use out of it was to reduce the amount of time SCCM kept information before purging it, which made it a pain to trouble shoot anything.
I haven't tried the new R2 MP yet, but I'm not placing any hopes on it. If you're running the R2 pack, please let me know as if you're having these issues, I won't bother putting it on.
All in all, it's a shame as I was looking forward to have OpsMgr monitoring ConfigMgr.
Cheers,

Yeah - I'm using the R2 MP - ok - time to start overriding monitors :-(
Sad that something so simple takes so long to get fixed.

I have too this problem, monitors for ConfigMgr is not reseting automatically and show over and over again problems which was repaired and manually closed in OpsMgr Console. ConfigMgr MP from box is very bad and not showing current state.

Hi Bob,
I've actually tried again with the management pack and have had much better success, mainly down to Kevin Holmans addendum MP which helps with the alert repeating.
Try following my blog post for more information:
