SCCM MP has http 404 status messages.
I've recently migrated my SCCM server to Windows 2008 R2 and upgraded to SP2. Things were working fine but recently I have been getting numerous errors in the status messages: SMP Control Manager detected SMP is not responding to HTTP requests. The http status code and text is 404, Not Found. I also get the same message for DMP. The only change I made was install the new configmgr dashboard on the SCCM server. It must have changed a setting in IIS. I have since uninstalled the dashboard but the problem persists. I have compared the IIS settings to the documentation (configuring webdav, installing the right roles, features, etc) and everything appears to be correct. SCCM runs on the default website. Any ideas?

I tried that yesterday with no luck. Is there a log I can look at to confirm it's completely deinstalled? I noticed the mpsetup.log: <01-03-2008 11:36:18> ==================================================================== <01-03-2008 11:36:18> SMSMP Setup Started.... <01-03-2008 11:36:18> Parameters: C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~1\bin\i386\ROLESE~1.EXE /deinstall /siteserver:NPSCCM101 SMSMP <01-03-2008 11:36:18> Deinstalling the SMSMP <01-03-2008 11:36:18> Enabling MSI logging. mp.msi will log to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\logs\mpMSI.log <01-03-2008 11:36:18> Deinstalling SMSMP, with product code {3945C886-9779-4280-B537-AB8E62A0878E} <01-03-2008 11:40:05> SMSMP deinstall exited with return code: 0 <01-03-2008 11:40:05> Deinstallation was successful. <01-03-2008 11:40:05> Removing MP Registry. <01-03-2008 11:40:14> ==================================================================== I reinstalled after this point and installation was successful but I still got the same errors. Also from an IIS standpoint, I can successfully access the 'mpcert' and 'mplist' pages from clients.

I removed and re-added the MP. This time I waited about 20 minutes. I still have the same errors. I get this error in the mpcontrol.log every 1 minute exactly: Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 404, text: Not Found SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER 6/30/2010 1:32:50 PM 3568 (0x0DF0) Successfully performed Management Point availability check against local computer. I've recently migrated my SCCM server to Windows 2008 R2 and upgraded to SP2. Just for your information, upgrading the OS on the ConfigMgr site server is not a supported senario http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee344146.aspx. To upgrade to Windows 2008 R2, we use the backup/restore mecanism http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrsetup/thread/397a3e72-cc94-46f8-bb28-e5eefd75ba37 So what method have you used to upgrade your site server to windows 2008 ???

I got the solution. When I migrated, I changed the http Site Bindings from 'Unassigned' to specific IP to match my old Windows 2k3 IIS settings. Changing them back to 'Unassigned' cleared the problem right up. I guess I shouldn't have tried to duplicate every old IIS setting. Thanks! (and as for the migration, I did the supported method of backup/restore through SCCM. The migration was to new hardware).
