SCCM Image Using Entire Partition
When I do a Build and Capture Task Sequence it is set to use one partition and 100% free space. Does this mean that if its a 500GB hard disk, and its using a 500GB partition, when I try to write that OS install image to new computers, they have to have at least a 500GB hard disk?

No, it means that it will use 100% of the available disk space on the target computer, it doesn't matter if it is a 40GB partition or 1TB it will use it all. Regards, Jrgen-- My System Center blog ccmexec.com -- Twitter @ccmexec

The size of the captured drive does not have to match the size of the installation drive. The 100% option is for the installation. It just means that the entire installation drive will be partitioned and used.

Note that WIMs are just CABs files -- compressed, file based-archives that are completely independant of any physical properties of the drives/paritions they are captured from or applied to in the exact same way that ZIP files are. This is unlike the bit based images many are used to from (outdated and arachaic) products like Ghost. Thus, when you apply an image from WIM, it's really just extracting the files from an archive and writing them to the disk. Thus, because the BABs are just file archives, you need a separate step/task to actual create/prepare the disk.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys
