SCCM HP z200 Windows PE network driver
We recently just received about 200 HP z200 workstations. I downloaded the latest drivers from HP's website and imported them in SCCM. I added the network and storage drivers (WinXP) including the RAID AHCI driver to the boot image. I have updated the distribution points; however, I am still unable to obtain an IP address once it boots into Windows PE. I thought maybe the SCCM server wasn't injecting the drivers into the boot.wim file correctly, so I manually injected the drivers using peimg command. Still, the Windows PE environment does not pull an IP address. We currently run over 200 HP dc7900s that still are able to boot and obtain an IP address fine. I am using the Vista x86 drivers and I have several models working correctly. I am unable to get the HP z200 to work, however. I am hoping someone has seen this type of issue before with either this model of computer or a similar model. I do not want to have to manually use imagex to reimage 200+ machines.

youdidnt say what version of sccm you are running, if its sp1 (no longer supported ) then use vista network drivers, if its sccm 2007 sp2 then use windows 7 network drivers. My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

Sorry about that (new forum poster). I am running Windows Server 2008 with SCCM 2007 R2 SP2. SQL Server 2008. I have also tried the Windows 7 drivers to no avail. It still just boots up and says it is starting the network connections, then reboots again. Repeat

and you press f8 and ipconfig and you get no ip ? does your smsts.log file reveal any issue ? are you sure that the driver you are using is correct ? what network card is it ? did you remember to update the boot images to their DP's after adding the nic drivers My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

Yes, I pressed F8 and ran ipconfig. It returns no values or anything because its like the network drivers were not loaded. The network card is 82578DM and I downloaded the latest driver form the HP website. I have also downloaded the latest driver directly from Intel's site and I am still getting the same result. I have tried both Win 7 and Vista drivers. HP dc7900 systems still work just fine and they utilize the same NIC. Each time I have ensured that I updated the boot.wim files with the new drivers on the dist point. did you verify the drivers are loaded in your boot.wim ? (look in the windows PE tab) if those drivers don't work, and if you double check that you distributed both boot imaes (32 and 64 bit) to the dp's then try adding nic drivers from Intels website My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

I did verify the drivers are on the boot image by looking in the Windows PE tab. I also updated the distribution point again to ensure it is updated with the latest version of the boot.wim.

I just got in the same Z200's..... luckily only 30-ish.... but have you found a solution? Before I start jumping through hoops I am hopinh you figured it out? I tried one via sccm right out of the box and have the identical issue.... then I found your post, but see no solution as of yet? Let me know if you have.. *crossing fingers*

hi, I downloaded http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18713&lang=eng. Imported it into the driver package. Updated the boot image, verified it updated. Mine worked perfectly. Hope this helps, Carlo
