SCCM Database Questions
Hi, I'm hoping to find answers to 2 questions with respect to the SCCM databases and am struggling to find answers in the documentation. Is it supported to have the database for a Primary site on a remote SQL Server that is a different ( trusted ) forest from the Primary Site Server itself ( and Secondary's hanging off that ). So Primary Site server and attached Secondary's in one forest and the SQL Server hosting the DB in a different forest. Is it supported to alias the Site Server's DB connection.? We have done some testing in a lab environment and certainly ( with some restrictions ) we were able to get the setup to succesfully find the aliased SQL Server and then create the database. Post installation seems clean from a healthcheck perspective, with the exception of an error relating to an inability to query a registry key on the remote SQL Server that tells the SCCM component the operating system on the SQL Server. The SCCM servers computer account has full rights over the key on the remote SQL server. The exact error we get is from Site Component Manager in a sequence of Message ID's 578, 1042, 1031: 578: Could not read registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ProductOptions" on computer ALIAS. The operating system reported error 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. 1042: SMS Site Component Manager could not detect which version of the Microsoft Windows NT Server operating system is running on site system \\ALIAS. The operating system reported error 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. 1031: SMS Site Component Manager failed to reconfigure site system "\\ALIAS" to receive SMS server components.
