SCCM Console not updating information in database
Hi All, I am facing with SCCM where the chnages i make to console are not getting updated in database. I have a 3 tier hierarchy and am using Admin console on central server to perform any action. The data is getting replicated to primary sites lower in hierarchy and is also visible in primary admin console however its not getting reflected to the central console nor is getting to central database. For example if i add a machine to a collection then after multiple refresh also, the machine name does not get reflected in the console. Also it is not getting into database. However after few mins it gets reflected to primary server and primary database lower in hierarchy. There is no error in the logs (colleval, smsprovider, smsdbmon, replication manager etc). There is following error in AdminUI.log in central server. [3][4/18/2011 10:18:19 AM] :System.InvalidOperationException\r\nThere is an error in XML document (1, 2).\r\n at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer.Deserialize(XmlReader xmlReader, String encodingStyle, XmlDeserializationEvents events) Please let mem know if anyone h faced similar issue. Thanks,

To test the console, i tried to add a system to a collection via script which in turns use wmi to add system to collection. Via script the system gets reflected in collection properties BUT NOT in collection. Neither in console nor in database. Also this seems to be only problem with Collections. Packages etc which are created are getting updated to database. Not not collection. Also the waiting sign(sand clock) continues to appear on the collection i try to modify.

Is tihs the conole on the server or the local one on your machine? What about the one on the cosole? Any else seeing this? You can try to open the console in Notepad, but a space in it, take it out and then save it. Then wait and load the console. See if it still does it.http://www.sccm-tools.com http://sms-hints-tricks.blogspot.com

Hi, I tried these steps but its the same. I am opening the console on server. Everyone is getting the error. Below is some more information on the issue; If I add a system to any collection it is not getting update on console and neither in SCCM central database. However the information gets replicated to the primary servers lower in hierarchy and is present in primary server console and also in primary database. Also, the CPU utilization of central server is constantly at 100%, with smsexec taking up all the resources.

If I were you; I'd reboot the central. You could do other troubleshooting, but that's a good place to start. You could try just restarting WMI service instead. or just restart smsexec & sms componentmgr. But a reboot would do those as well, obviously.Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

Hi, Server is restarted however its still the same. Also it seems its a DB issue. Information is getting replicated to primary. Infact the system which i have added to collection are also getting applications targeted to that collection , however they are not visible in central console or database. And since they are not in central database they are not getting reported if i run report for the advertisement which is targeted to that collection. Can someone guide what should i check for database part?

Hi, This issue was resolved, dont know how. Initially it took around 6-8 hours for a system to appear in collection then gradually it become better. The CPU utilization also reduced. It might be some collection was stuck, but not sure what exactly was the issue. Trying to find what went so wrong but no success yet.
