SCCM Client question
Here is the scenario, a user is given a laptop running XPSP3, joinedto thecorporate domain and has mixed mode SCCM client installed but is gone on extended leave (like almost a year). The user will not have VPN access so there will be no communication with AD/SCCM/DNS etc. What happens to the SCCM client software on the laptop? Does it forever keep trying to reach it's MP? Does it uninstall itself after 'x' days?

The client will not deinstall itself unless specifically told to do so. It may disappear from your SCCM site when your cleanup runs, depending on your settings. It will show up again on next callback.

SCCM Client will never get uninstall from the laptop. It will remain, but no use cause you do not have VPN or something to communication to SCCM server. Laptop's entry in SCCM Console will get deleted automatically during SCCM Cleanup. Once if you plugin your laptop to the network, SCCM client will communciate with SCCM Server and start retrieving the policies.Regards,Vanithavanitha

Hi, The client will not be uninstalled itself, but it will be moved from your SCCM console as SCCM will clean un-response client automatically according to the period you configured. Also, when the client is back to network in the future, it will be found by SCCM again via discovery.
