SCCM Capture Bare Metal Images for Backup and Restore.
Hi, Just need a little bit advice/Direction, Im trying to find a way to capture 20-30 vital PC with SCCM. So how can I use the Capture Disk or some other tool not to run Sysprep just to take Bare metal image of these machines. as we need to be able to restore these workstation if they go down or if they get corrupted, Most of the machines run vital simulation software, that can take days to rebuild from scratch. I know i can use Ghost or other software, But we would like to use our SCCM enviroment to do this. Paul O'Davies Mclaren Group

you should be able to do a full image backup (WIM) of the computer using the ZTIBACKUP.wsf script included with MDT, if you integrate MDT with ConfigMgr you can create a task sequence to achieve same, Michael has a nice post about that here cheers niall My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

Hi Paul, To using toolkit package, we can: 1. Use all the MDT script without creating individual packages.. 2. Set a variable that points to the package, then we can use ImageX and much more. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I used this and the capture worked great. Now is there anything special that I have to do in my task sequence to restore the unsyspreped image? Thanks.
