There's not much to work with here. Where are you seeing this error and what issue is it causing? Please post the log.

Make sure you have your network and hdc drivers in the boot images.

As Mavtech suggested iastors.sys is related to your storage controller. Knowing these workstations they're more than your average desktop and have a separate storage controller, find the drivers and get them into your WinPE boot image and ensure they're being applied during the task sequence.

Also something to try out is check and test settings in your BIOS. I've seen this in the past where the BIOS was set to use RAID and it failed, changed it to AHCI and it worked OK, just something to play around with.

how did you create the driverpackages? with HP SDM?

then you should watch out because even if you specify you want to download the drivers for x86 or vice versa you will get drivers for other OS and other architectures

Hi,

  • I'm apply to bootup and the Task Sequence procedes to "Setup windows and ConfigMgr" during the OS build it goes into the iaStors.sys loop.
  • In my desktop and laptop builds if I get this far it isn't a boot.wim issue anymore. ...but I admit I'm no workstation SCCM OSD build expert?

I created the driver packages as follows:

  • Used the HP Z420, Z620, Z820 Windows 7 x64 Driver Pack from the HP site. Inject the extracted driver into a unique Driver package.
  • On first drop it was missing the SAS, SOL, and MEI drivers. The existing SAS driver 3.6.0.1086 didn't inject. ...I didn't check the log. :(
  • Injected the SAS driver 3.1.0.1082 and it BSOD.
  • Used the HP Z420, Z620, Z820 Windows 7 x86 Driver Pack from the HP site. Inject the extracted driver into a unique Driver package. First drop it BSOD.

For the x64 build per advise from HP....I've disabled all the iaStors.inf in driver package and after the OSD build run sp56779 and see if this takes care of the SAS unknown device issue experienced.

Quite easy in Retrospect the Hard Part is to realise set BIOS to "Legacy" and SATA to "AHCI".

Got Driver Package for both platforms from HP drivers version 6,3

Created unique Driver Package for each platform.

Created a "Apply Driver Package" step with an Option WMI call for the Z420 model.
