SCCM 2012 to R2 Migration

Hi.

I want to migrate my SCCM 2012 to a new 2012 R2 server. I can't seem to find documentation for migrating - only for upgrading.

My SCCM 2012 is not healthy so I would like to provision a completely new server and then use Migration to copy Collections, Packages etc., but I can only find documentation for doing so when migrating from 2007 to 2012. Does it also work from 2012 to 2012 R2?

Thanks in advance!

/Michael

supported migrations within Configmgr 2012 are available here https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/931dca7f-8a80-401a-9d5b-db81d9b762ad#BKMK_SupportedMigrationVersions ,check what version are you running from the listed versions.

sccm 2012 is not healthy ?-- what major issues do you have ? can that be fixed or messed up completely ?

if you existing configmgr 2012 version is within the supported migration list, you can follow the same procedure how you did from configmgr 2007 to configmgr 2012 . additional info on the migration https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/gg699364.aspx

Thanks.

The primary issue is that it cannot be upgraded. It was installed when SCCM 2012 was in preview and later upgraded to RTM. Since then various consultants and even Microsoft Services has tried to upgrade it to R2 with no luck.

I don't know exactly what issues they faced, but I have been asked to migrate it to a new server.

Actually I am not even sure, it has been upgraded to SP1, which seems to be a problem according to the list, you provided :-(.

from the technet documentation ,you must be running SP1.

Ensure all sites in the hierarchy run System Center 2012 Configuration Manager with SP1.

You cannot upgrade a site to System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager until all sites in the hierarchy run System Center 2012 Configuration Manager with SP1. The version of cumulative updates for Configuration Manager that are installed at sites is not evaluated and you can upgrade a System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1 site regardless of the cumulative update version that is installed, or even when no cumulative update is installed.
