Hello, I have a problem with SCCM 2012 Beta2 installation in test LAB. I don't have previous experience with SCCM but deployed and using WSUS, SCVMM, WDS, MDTK. Couple of questions: 1. should WSUS exist in AD before bringing up SCCM or it could be installed on SCCM server with a patches store on different server? 2. should SQL be installed prior SCCM? I am asking that because at first step of SCCM installation a path for download directory was asked and SQL Express was downloaded. 3. I installed BITS Service and restarted the server. But failure is there. Ideally, I would like to have a latest Step by Step that will lead to painless installation of this particular SCCM version. "Before you start" link on first screen shows - Not supported in this version. So no help. Prerequisites checking is not very user friendly and not really helps to fix all the issues. There are KBs from different versions of required apps that should be applied... I am sure that I have to read docs for better understanding the product but the installation I guess should be pretty straight forward... Here are failure messages: 0.Configuration Manager software update points require Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) version 3.0 SP1 or later. If using a remote software update point, the WSUS administration console must be installed on the site server. For more information on WSUS installation see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=79477. (NOTE from me: Installed ADMIN console onlyand it fixed the warning) 1.Either the user account running Configuration Manager Setup does not have sysadmin SQL Server role permissions on the SQL Server instance targeted for site database installation or the SQL Server instance could not be contacted to verify permissions. Setup cannot continue. 2. A communication error has been detected between the SMS Provider/Site System computer and the site database computer. This error can occur when the site database server is offline or if a valid SPN has not been registered in Active Directory Domain Services for the SQL Server instance hosting the site database. Setup cannot continue. 3.Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) is required for the management point and BITS-enabled distribution point site system roles. Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) is not installed and/or IIS 6 WMI compatibility component for IIS7 is not installed on this computer or remote IIS host, or setup was unable to verify remote IIS settings because IIS common components were not installed on the site server computer. Also check if IIS/BITS services are running properly. ConfigMgr requires BITS 4.
