SCCM 2012 Software Updates - Updates deploying automatically to newly joined computers
We are currently in the process of migrating machines over to SCCM 2012 by cutting them over to a separate site from SCCM 2007.  During that process, we will distribute windows updates through SCCM 2012.  These get deployed once per month.  The issue i'm having is that whenever a new machine is cut over and brought into SCCM 2012, it will pickup that software update deployment, even though the deadline is days or even weeks in the past, and it will go through and install the updates automatically.  The only way i can stop this behavior from happening is by disabling the software update deployment.  The machines do have a recurring maintenance window set for every third tuesday.  I seem to remember in SCCM 2007, once the deadline for the updates was reached, the advertisement also disappeared, so new machines weren't being bombarded with these update deployments.  Is there a way to setup something similar in 2012?  Otherwise, is there a way to automatically disable the deployment of these updates?

The steps i take to deploy the updates are as followed:
  1. In the Software Library, under Software Updates, i'll open "All Software Updates"
  2. I will pull one of my saved searches (this pulls all required updates not superseded or expired)
  3. I will highlight those updates and send them over to a software update group
  4. I will deploy the software update group to one of our windows updates collections.  The deployment has a specific time when it is available, and a specific deadline.  Under user experience, i have it set to install software updates once the deadline is reached, and i am not suppressing any restarts.
Any help would be appreciated.

create a custom collection for your migrated clients and add them in with each migration with a query or something else you can identify them by.

Then in 2012 create a custom client setting disabling the software updates and target the collection with the settings.

How to Configure Client Settings in Configuration Manager
