SCCM 2012 R2 but windows 8.1 and server 2012 r2 not provided as supported OS for configuration item.

Production environment is SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 and just noticed that when creating a CI for compliance windows 8.1 and windows server 2012 R2 are not available under supported platforms.

Checked our lab environment, same SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 and when creating a CI in the lab, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 are listed as supported platforms.

I've looked through settings and compared ms updates in case we missed something in production, but my understanding is SCCM 2012 R2 comes out of the box with windows 8.1 and server 2012 R2 support?

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi,

my understanding is SCCM 2012 R2 comes out of the box with windows 8.1 and server 2012 R2 support?

It shoud present as supported platform. You can try to install the latest update CU5.

Is this a primary site?

Console is connected to the CAS and we have two primary sites.  We just updated to CU4, so can't see updating to CU5 anytime soon.  Our lab environment, updated to CU4, no issues there.  I'm fairly sure this issue was present before the CU4 update, but I can't say for sure.

Is the CAS upgraded also to CU4? That should be done as a first step for hierarchy with a CAS in place for CU upgrades, from top to down (CAS -> PRI -> SEC).

Yep, updated CAS first and then the two primaries, and then all secondary sites.

I opened a ticket with MS and will see what can be done about this.

Do you get any solution? It would be nice if you have any information to share.

Indeed we were missing 23 items from the CI table for applications/compliance baselines

Supported method to fix will be to upgrade to SCCM 2012 SP2, which the installer will rebuild all the missing CI's.

If SP2 wasn't available at this time, there's a unsupported method of using a script pulling out the CI install portion of the SCCM R2 R2 installer to help rebuild the CI table, or a third option of completely rebuilding the environment.

No easy fix for this one table that houses the CI's for applications and compliance baselines.
