SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 Upgrade Fails

Below was the first error message I received. I verified before I ran the install that I was not using database replication via Management Point Properties.

ERROR: SQL Server error: [42000][4929][Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Cannot alter the table MeterData because it is being published for replication. Configuration Manager Setup 8/25/2015 2:39:32 PM 4184 (0x1058)

I found http://blog.extreme-advice.com/2012/11/06/remove-replication-from-sql-server-2012/ and removed the replication.

When I restarted the upgrade I was greeted with this error

ERROR: SQL Server error: [42S02][208][Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Invalid object name dbo.fn_SplitString. : MDM_ProcessUserAssignmentForApp Configuration Manager Setup 8/25/2015 3:21:30 PM 4600 (0x11F8)

Now I'm at a loss...... It looks to me like someone had either enabled replication at one time via Management Point Properties or possibly created it in SQL.  I have no clue how to recover from these errors and move forward.

Help would be appreciated.

I restored both the DB and CM server from a sql snapshot.

I first deleted the replication groups per Jason Sandy's recommendation. The upgrade completed w/o error.
