SCCM 2012 R2 - Patching - Maintenance Windows

Hi all,

just wanted to ask a question about Maintenance Windows, more specifically what the messages in the ServiceWindowManager.log file mean. I've created a Software Update Group which contains 88 updates, deployed it to "Collection1" which has a single server in. I then set a 24 hour Maintenance Window on "Collection1".

However, when I run the Software Update Scan/Cycle I see the 88 updates are picked up in the UpdatesDeployment.log and UpdatesAgentHandler.log yet they are not installed. This is because the client doesn't seem to recognise the maintenance window:

Based on the above ServiceWindowManger.log, could some one tell me:

1] What does the "Type=4"/"Type=6" refer to?

2] Is the run time in minutes? (I assume so)

3] If there's anything I can check to find out why the server isn't installing the updates given the fact it's essentially been assigned a daily, 24 hour Maintenance Window?

Thanks for the help!

So i adjust the MW to run from 02:00 to 23:30. In the logs I can see the client has picked this up and I can also see the client has calculated that it needs a service window of 600 minutes to install all the updates. However, I'm still seeing "No Service windows available to run updates assignment" in the Updates DeploymentAgent.log:

Is there something obvious I'm missing here? The principle of MW seems pretty straightforward but I'm stumped. Could it be anything to do with the 'Type' of window? The entry which reads 'Type=4 not found' seems strange given that Type 4 is the Software Update Service Window.....

Is your deployment set as required and has it past the deadline?

Hi Jason,

I've got the Type of Deployment set to "required" and the SUG deployment deadlined a week before I started this thread.

Doubt it's relevant but in my Automated Deployment Rule which generates the SUG, I've got the Deployment Schedule set to As Soon As Possible for both the 'Software Available Time' and the 'Installation Deadline'. Curiously, when I check the SUG it has the 'Software Available Time' and the 'Installation Deadline' time set to the time/date when the ADR ran, rather than simply being set to run 'As Soon As Possible'.

Thanks for taking the time to help! And apologies for my belated response, got called away unexpectedly.
