SCCM 2012 R2

I need help. I am new to SCCM 2012.

I have a SCCM 2012 environment on my network, but all of the sudden it stops working. I tried troubleshooting for days without any luck. Now I decided to setup a new one on the same network rather than troubleshooting that already take me days without any success.

These are my questions:

1. Can I achieve this?

2. If yes? Will my existing SCCM client pick up the new SCCM site or it requires to be uninstalled and reinstalled and point to the new SCCM site?

3. My SCCM site database, can I disable the existing DB and create a new instance for the new site? Or a new site DB needed?

Please advise.

1. Yes you can setup a new instance on the same network but I would suggest that you use a different 3 letter site code for troubleshooting purposes. You will have to do this if you want to leave both instances running in your prod environment. Keep in mind that you will also have to adjust your boundaries in both environments if you intend to keep both of them so you don't get overlap.

2. No you will need to push out the client from the new SCCM site using your chosen method.

3. In my opinion a new Site DB to go with your new instance, don't re-use any of your previous site's SQL - however in saying that I'm assuming you can tear it down easily (or rebuild it if your using physical hardware).

Cheers
