SCCM 2012 Endpoint Protection on Windows 8.1
Good Morning Everyone,

Is there any possibility to install SCCM 2012 - Endpoint Protection on an Windows 8.1 client?

When i try to do so, i get the following error message:

"System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection cannot be installed on your operating system. Windows Program Compatibility mode is not supported by this program.  <a>For information about supported operating systems, see the online Help</a>. Error code:0x8004FF71"

If it is not possible, is there any ETA when we will be able to protect Windows 8.1 with SCCM 2012 EP?

Thank you in advance

Andreas

Hello, Any updates on this? It seems that even CU3 is not good to enable install SCEP on W8.1 computers. So far only solution for me has been to install first W8, install SCCM client and SCEP and then inplace upgrade to W8.1. So I can confirm that SCEP works fine on W8.1, but you just cannot install it....weird.

Same problem here... Just can't install SCEP on Win8.1. Installed CU3 on our SCCM...

Not that its any consolation, but the SCEP install on my lone 8.1 machine decided to install magically after a few days. SCEP was deployed via CM12 and kept trying to install but failed for several days with the 0x8004FF71 error.  Then one day I noticed it was successfully installed, but I don't know why.  I am not aware of any changes I made to my machine that would have corrected the issue...

Ok, am I reading that right?  We just need to do an update to EP SP1 so that SCCM 2012 can push it out to 2012 R2 and 8.1?

You need to install CU3 on SCCM2012SP1. Then you got an updated sccm client and an updated scepinstall executable...

On another Win8.1 machine i only installed the new sccmclient and minutes later there was the SCEP icon in the task bar :)

Updating sccm Client to SCCM2012SP1 CU3 will not update SCEPInstall.exe in the ccmsetup Directory.

Reinstalling sccm Client will copy the new source including the new SCEPinstall.exe.

You can use push Client, run ccmsetup from <SCCMSERVER>\SMS_<SMS-SITE\Client\ccmsetup.exe, or just run scepinstall.exe from the SCCM Server.
