SCCM 2012 Endpoint Protection on Windows 8.1
Good Morning Everyone,

Is there any possibility to install SCCM 2012 - Endpoint Protection on an Windows 8.1 client?

When i try to do so, i get the following error message:

"System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection cannot be installed on your operating system. Windows Program Compatibility mode is not supported by this program. For information about supported operating systems, see the online Help. Error code:0x8004FF71"

If it is not possible, is there any ETA when we will be able to protect Windows 8.1 with SCCM 2012 EP?

Thank you in advance

Andreas

Hi,

Support for Windows 8.1 is included in the Configuration Manager 2012 R2 which is availble in a preview now.

My company is in the middle of standing up SCCM 2012 SP1, so is there any chance that SP1 will be updated to support 8.1 also? With Windows 8.1 being available soon for end users as a free upgrade and SCCM 2012 R2 presumably not being a free upgrade, it could leave a gaping hole in our security.

Also, if we deploy SCEP 2012 SP1 to the existing Windows 8 Pro computers and they later upgrade to 8.1, will it break SCEP until we get R2?

I have installed CM12 SP1 CU3 on my primary site server as well as my 8.1 client. I am still receiving the 0x8004FF71 error mentioned above when SCEP is attempting to install. Anyone have any ideas? It was my understanding that CU3 adds adds 8.1 client support for CM and SCEP. Am I wrong?

Thanks
