Hi,
I think I have to clarify and somewhat correct myself(Thanks Torsten for the feedback and assistance!) In SCCM 2012 you can use a Boundary group for two things:
- Site Assignement - Used when a client tries to detect which site it belongs to
- Content Location - Used for content location.
From what I understand, tested and read, the Content Location boundary is not considered Overlapping and during my tests it has worked great to have a Boundary Group Overlapping a SCCM 2007 site assignement.
From the Technet Doc. "To help avoid overlapping boundaries for site assignment, consider using of one set of boundary groups for site assignment, and a second set of boundary groups for content location."
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427326.aspx
This would make it posisble to have a SCCM2007 boundary and a SCCM 2012 Boundary Group used for content location overlapping which makes migration and transition so much easier. The doucmentation doesn't say explicitly that this is supported though..
I hope that helps you.
Regards,
Jrgen
