SCCM 2012R2 and deduplication of package source

Hi,

We currently store all of our package source data (Applications, Packages, Drivers, and Updates etc.) on a UNC path located on Netapp storage.

Is it supported to enable Netapp (or any other storage provider) deduplication for the package source files?

Or can I run into problems when importing drivers like mentioned here

Thanks!

It could work but not supported read note bellow.

Note: Because Data Deduplication internally uses reparse points, and Configuration Manager does not support using a content source folder with files stored on reparse points, therefore using a content source folder located on a volume enabled for Data Deduplication may not work.

That statement refers to native Windows storage dedup and does not apply to hardware level dedup. However, the same statement applies as to whether it will work or not: Microsoft won't support this configuration explicitly so it may work or it may cause issues. This type of dedup should be completely transparent to ConfigMgr and the OS for that matter so I would think it will work, but have no true knowledge of that.
