SCCM 2007 installs device driver and blanks the mac address
IP looks fine, DNS servers look correct... The mac address is just 00:00:00:00:00:00 which I assume is causing my issue.... Strangely this is happening anytime we image THIS model of this machine. I tried deleting those drivers out of SCCM and readding them, to make sure I wasn't pushing a corrupt driver...no dice.

I'm not 100% sure how to even describe the problem I'm seeing on this one. The computer pulls down the image, reboots acts like its joining the network, reboots, then times out on the first application it trys to install, reboots again and ends up at the login screen. In reality the computer has not joined the domain, and didn't install any apps other than the config manager. I checked for an IP address, which it has, dns servers look fine.... The driver for the nic is installed, but where things get funny is the mac address shows as all 0's. I assume this is why it fails to join the domain... The error comes across as 0x80070002. The SMST log yields this: Error. Received 0x80072ee7 from WinHttpSendRequest. TSManager 1/11/2011 2:13:17 PM 1812 (0x0714) unknown host (gethostbyname failed) TSManager 1/11/2011 2:13:32 PM 1812 (0x0714) The only stuff I found online with regard to the unknown host had more to do with DNS and DHCP, which are setup right, but I can imagine some problems due to having no MAC address....Does anyone have an idea why or how SCCM is applying a device driver which won't publish or is wiping the MAC address?

Did you check the IP during the task sequence or after it fails?Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys
