SCCM 2007 SP2 Mixed mode. Failed to send reqistration request message 0*80040231
Hello! I have one primary site and two secondary (with installing MP-role). AD extended (all ok). Clients of one secondary are all fine. But all clients of other secondary cannot send requstration requests. In logs I found next: ccmexec.log Error registering hosted class Failed in WinHTTPSendrequestAPI, Error code=0*2efd clientIDManagerStartup.log: Failed to send registration request message 0*80040231 IIS logs - all ok (200) Ping from clients to Secondary site (with MP role) - http://<mp site>/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mplist - I founded, that in AD, problem secondary site doesn't have attribute ServiceBindinformation... What is problem?

Failed in WinHTTPSendrequestAPI, Error code=0*2efd That error message would translate to "ERROR_INTERNET_CANNOT_CONNECT". Do you see the IP of the client in the IIS logs in the MP? Is the client really able to contact the MP?

Hi, See the workaround for faild to send registartion error 80040231 Situation: Mixed Mode site, SCCM 2007 SP1, Server 2008 Standard, XP Pro SP3 clients, SMS 2003 never existed in environment. New SCCM clients could identify MP and site name but could not register properly. The client would not get advertised programs and the RC tool prompted for credentials. Existing clients were not affected and I'm not able to determine any changes made at this time that caused new clients to fail. I will update this post when/if I find the source. IIS log CCM_POST /ccm_system_windowsauth/request - 80 - <client IP> ccmhttp 401 2 5 218 Client's ccmexec.log HTTP ERROR: URL=http://<MP FQDN>/ccm_system_windowsauth/request, Port=80, Protocol=http, SSLOptions=0, Code=0, Text=CCM_E_BAD_HTTP_STATUS_CODE Client's ClientIDManagerStartup.log RegTask: Client is not registered. Sending registration request... RegTask: Failed to send registration request message. Error: 0x80040231 RegTask: Failed to send registration request. Error: 0x80040231 Workaround: On the MP server open IIS Manager, expand until you see CCM_System_WindowsAuth and open the Authentication console. Disable Windows Authentication and enable Anonymous Authentication. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
