SCCM 2007 Remote Tools Credentials Required issue.
Whenever we try to use remote tools to a Windows XP 64 bit PC we get the following error: The currently logged-in user does not have rights to access the client machine. You must provide the username, domain, and password of an account in the client's remote control operators group. This is a domain environment and have explored all other fixes for this issue with no success. We have narrowed it down to only affecting XP 64 bit clients. Windows XP x86/7 x86/64/2003 x86/64 and 2008 x86/64 are all in our environment and work correctly. Any ideas what would only be affecting the XP 64 bit clients to cause this error?

What if you add the user account directly to the Permitted Viewers list?Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/ | The Danish community for System Center products

Yes, no change. Our domain admins group is the group that has access. I'm in that already. I did try by adding just my user name also, same results as above.

Hi, Is the configMgr remote control users group has been created after deploying the ConfigMgr client on that x64 XP machine ? And what about DCOM permissions for that group http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680755.aspx ? In plus, is the DCOM enabled on that computer, you can check this by starting the registry then go to HKLM\software\Microsoft\OLE, make sure that the EnableDCOM string value is Y, if it is N so change it to Y and restart the operating system for the changes to take effect. Thanks Bechir that did the trick. The EnableDCOM string was missing in 3/4 of our x64 XP clients. Thanks.
