SCCM 2007 R3 & WSUS on a Windows 2008 R2 install question
Hello, Quick question -- I am going to install my new SCCM 2007 R3 environment on a Windwos 2008 R2 SP1 server. I know that i have to install WSUS as part of the process. When i was adding my other prerequistes for my central primary server, (the only thing left I have to do is install WSUS) before my SCCM install. From what I've read you need to download and install WSUS before, then cancel out and don't configure it. All the documentaiton i see is installing this on Windows 2008 (non-r2) version. When I looked at the roles to add for a Windwos 2008 R2 server Windows Update Services is listed as a component. Can i use this version of WSUS or do i need to download the standalone version from Microsoft? Thanks in advance -Mike

You can use that version. SCCM supports WSUS 3.0 SP2 Kind Regards, Tom Ziegler http://www.sccmguy.com | Twitter @Tom_Ziegler

I just did a second look at your post. I have not seen anything official yet if 2008 r2 sp1 is a supported configuration yet. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee344146.aspxKind Regards, Tom Ziegler http://www.sccmguy.com | Twitter @Tom_Ziegler

It looks like it is now supported. http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2011/03/24/configuration-manager-support-announcements-for-march-2011.aspx The post also mentions that there are a couple of hotfixes that need to be applied.Kind Regards, Tom Ziegler http://www.sccmguy.com | Twitter @Tom_Ziegler
