SCCM 2007 R2 - custom IIS web site and secondary site
Hello,
First of all sorry for my english.
I just migrated from SMS 2003 SP3 to SCCM
2007
R2 in native mode
with
90 remote
sites.
There is a principal site
at
Headquarters,
20
secondary sites and the rest
in
branch distribution
point (installed
on
servers). All in Windows 2003 Server.
On
remote servers
the default site
in IIS is
already used.
So I
implement the
use
of custom
IIS Web site
and I
changed the communication ports
of
SCCM client.
Custom
web site
must be called SMSWEB.
My
problem is
that
management points in
SCCM secondary sites
have
been published
on the IIS site "SMSWEB"
but
NOT the distribution point, it
being published
in the default site
in IIS.
However
on my
main site distribution points
were
well published
in the IIS
site "SMSWEB".
In
the log
distribution management
"Distmgr.log"
at
the central site
I found
the line
well <IISWebSiteName in the CSF
is "SMSWEB">
by
cons on
my secondary site
contains
the same line
<IISWebSiteName in the CSF
is "">.
In
addition to the log
installation
management point
"Mpmsi.log"
on
my secondary sites
I have
a line
<The
name of
the web site
is "SMSWEB">.
Any idea?

I applied
this article :
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693482.aspx
My problem is that distributions points (configured to allow BITS) on secondary sites are published in the defaut IIS web site instead of the SMSWEB web site. So my SCCM clients assigned at a secondary site can't connect to the DP with http/https causing
the use of SMB.
However Managment points on secondary site are published in SMSWEB web site and SCCM clients can connect to MP with https.

Hi PapY_TcheB,
Secondary sites inherit custom Web site settings from their parent sites, configuring a custom Web site at a site with secondary child sites requires custom Web site creation for each attached secondary site.
So you have to create the SMSWEB Site first on the secpondary site manually, and then go into Properties for the Secondary Site, and then went to the Ports tab, select the Use custom web site check box.
Have you already done that?David Baur

Hi David,
The Custom Web site creation has been done before the installation of secondary site (The secondary site Port tab is grayed, all parameters are inherited from Parent site). The BITS feature of the distribution point has been activated after the management
point installation. However the MP installations are good but NOT the DP...

Papy,
After all this time without any solution, it's better to call Microsoft support, and please update this thread when you get a solution from them.Bechir Gharbi | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/bgharbi/
