SCCM 2007 R2, Reporting Services, and how to configure SQL 2008
Good morning,Is there any documentation on how to configure SQL 2008 for Reporting Services for use with SCCM 2007 R2? I see that it is offically supported, but the only config docs I can find are for SQL 2005. The screens look slightly differnet as well as some choices. I want to make sure I am configuring it correctly. Does anyone have any links as I can't find any showing how to configure. Thanks.

Hi,It's the same steps that SQL 2005 except that with SQL 2008 you cannot deploy report models created by using this version to the Configuration Manager console. If you have created report models by using SQL Server 2008, you must access them by using your SQL Reporting Services Web site. Also it's recommanded to use SCCM SP2 R2 & SQL 2008 SP1.Thanks.Bechir Gharbi. Thanks for the reply but I'm hoping you (or someone else) can answer another question. Do I have to follow the section titled "To configure SQL Reporting Services in SQL Server 2005" in this link:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512033.aspxI installed the reporting services component along with SQL 2008 as detailed in the first section. However, I'm not sure if SCCM will take care of actually configuring the server once I add the reporting services role to my SCCM site. It kind of has the same info as the link above so it sounds like SCCM will configure the server on its own when I add the server as a site system. Is this correct or do I have to follow the entire configuration document in the link above? Thanks.

When I try to configure reporting services, everything is greyed out. If I understand correctly, http://scug.be/blogs/sccm/archive/2009/05/16/sccm-2007-r2-sql-reporting-services-named-instances-and-greyed-out-config-option.aspx seems to indicate that this can be resolved by having a default instance. I'm sorry but I'm a complete newbie when it comes to SCCM and SQL Server. Can someone describe to me how to fix this so I can resolve the problem? Thanks for your help. Note: My test environment has SQL server 2008 and SCCM 2007 R2 running on Server 2008.

To confirm guys... For sccm 2007 Sp2 R3 - Do people typically have a SQL Server for the central database and a SQL reporting server for reporting?
