SCCM 2007 New Installation -- Working Fine but...
When I tried to extend the schema it states I don't have rights because it is trying to extend the schema of the entire domain including the parent domain. I only have rights to the child domain. Rick

The siteserver publishes to the domain where it is member of and there's no way to change that behavior.

The Schema in Active Directory is common to the entire forest thus you must have schema admin privileges for the forest to extend it.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

You also need to grant rights to all child objects in the System Management container, otherwise you wont be able to create all entries.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

The site server is a member of the child domain. Any reason why it wouldn't be able to publish its SLP if the server name has rights to the System and the System Management container? SLP Configuration for SITESERVER is correct. $$<SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER><Wed Jan 26 12:28:53.514 2011 Eastern Standard Time><thread=2476 (0x9AC)> Installing Security settings on site system ... $$<SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER><Wed Jan 26 12:28:53.515 2011 Eastern Standard Time><thread=2476 (0x9AC)> Security settings are up to date for SITESERVER. $$<SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER><Wed Jan 26 12:28:53.515 2011 Eastern Standard Time><thread=2476 (0x9AC)> Publishing SITESERVER as an SLP into Active Directory. $$<SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER><Wed Jan 26 12:28:53.515 2011 Eastern Standard Time><thread=2476 (0x9AC)> SLP Class SMS-SLP-LKR-SITESERVER doesn't exists. Error 8202 translates to "The specified directory service attribute or value does not exist." Can you check the extadsch.log and verify that the schema was extended correctly. Unfortunately I didn't extend the schema personally. It was extended by the parent domain a few months ago to accommodate server 2008. Rick

Is there something I can do to the child domain to get this to publish properly?Rick

The schema extention for SCCM has nothng to do with Server 2008. Make sure to run the SCCM schema extention, create the system management container and set permissions on it. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|

Can I run the schema extension just for my child domain or does it have to be done at the parent level?Rick

as long as you have the correct credentials to extend the shema, it should be ok - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680608.aspxKent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

For some reason SCCM 2007 won't publish the SLP to AD. I have created the Systems Management container, and given the server rights to System and Systems Management. We are child domain and we don't have rights to the parent domain. The schema has been extended to support Server 2008. Any ideas on how to tell SCCM 2007 to publish its SLP to our child domain and not to the parent domain?
