SCCM2012 SP1 is not talking to DB SQl2012 CU3

Hello all

I'm in process of setting up a test lab with DC windows 2012 , SCCM 2012 SP1 and SQL 2012 RTM CU. I run the schema update for Active domain, created new container with ADSI and added full permissions for sccm server,  then installed SQL 2012 with CU3 and then installed SCCM 2012 SP1 as single primary site that will use already mentioned DB server. Installation went very well and from what I can see sccm 2012 install wizard connected to sql 2012 and process completed with out issues and warnings.Firewall on sql server is set to allow inbound connections on ports 4022 and 1433 (telnet confirmed that access is possible) SCCM server is member of local admin on SQL server and has been added to SQL DB logins with full admin rights.

I added one boundary called AD site and it pointed to my domain, made a boundary group and added boundary to it and went through all the steps for this as suggested on MS sites. Then enabled Active directory system discovery method and was expecting to see a few vm machines that I added to domain, but there the problems begin. I though maybe it takes time so I waited one whole day and still nothing.

Since this is new to me I had no idea where to start so I stumbled upon Montoring and Alerts and there I noticed under All Alerts this

So my question is how do I go about and troubleshoot this ? Is manual DB replication trigger possible and if so how ?

Thanks for your input

Those built-in alerts have never been triggered, meaning they are inactive.  Your design does sound like it includes anything with database replication.

Are you trying to troubleshoot AD System Discovery?  If so, check adsysdis.log for any errors about device you think should be discovered but aren't showing up.

I hope that helps,

Hello Nash

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question.
At this point I am trying to troubleshoot anything from sccm connection to sql to AD:
Where can I find adsysdis.log ? On sccm server

Regarding AD system Discovery, yes that too.Cant see machines or users at all, its like agent is not discovering anything.

That logfile can be found in <ConfigMgrInstallDir>\Logs.

Make sure to target the correct container for system discovery(Can be specified in the system discovery property). Also as it is your test lab enabling system discovery for entire domain wont hurt you.

@Torsten

Thanks for that, I'v checked the install folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\ Logs and I see only 3 text/log file (OSDImageProperties, sitecomp, SMSProv + SMSpRov.lo_)
So no adsysdis.log at all :(

@ Delphin S A

Yes I did, I used top domain container so that means all containers in domain LDAP://DC=mydomain,DC=com and also marked "Discover objects within Active directory groups"

After looking around in AD I noticed that System->System Managament container is empty and if I remember correctly in 2007 version when you installed sccm 2007 it added one container with site name + plus some other files. So I am probably missing some files in System Management container which is odd since I delegated full permissions to container prior sccm installations (same was done for ADSI container as well)
