Dear SCCM Users, I know i'm in the wrong forum but: 1. SCCM2012 is already a couple of months RTM, but still no SCCM2012 forum. 2. connect.microsoft.com is not working for me cause i didn't participate in the beta. Can login with my LiveID but i don't have access appearently. 3. i tried tons of solutions googled, but nothing works. Now back to the problems i have: Tis is my first touche with SCCM. i have not used SCCM ever before in the past. Hence i'm building a test environment to test SCCM. my test environment is as following: lab-dc01 - domain controller, DNS, DHCP - windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise lab-SQL01 - SQL server with SQL 2008 SP2 - CU7 -Windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise lab-SCCM01 - SCCM2012 server - Windows Server 2008R2 Datacenter (just discovered i made a selection error;) ) I followed exactly this step-by-step installation manual: http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4422-using-sccm-2012-rc-in-a-lab-part-1-installation/ I configured SQL with the following: 1. Install SQL server 2008. SQL Collation SQL_Latin1_general_CP1_CI_AS. Added 2 sysadmin accounts: enterprise admin account, and a seperate SQL admin AD account. Each SQL service has it''s own service AD account (plain AD user account with only just Domain User membership) 2. Installed SP2 for SQL 2008 3. Installed CU7 4. Opened the apropiate SQL ports (1433 + 4022) Though i keep getting the following SQL related prereq errors: NOTE: I'm aware of the WSUS warning. For the sake of troubleshooting i left WSUS deinstalled where SCCM may interfare with the Windows Internal Database. I triple checked the SQL configuration but i'm sure that i have the right sql collation, running the sql service under a service account (even tried with NETWORK SERVICE, but the problem persists), and have even 2 accounts with SQL sysadmin rights. Even running the command: setup.exe /QUIET /ACTION=REBUILDDATABASE /INSTANCENAME=MSSQLSERVER /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS=NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM BUILTIN\ADMINISTRATORS LAB\SQLAdmin /SQLCOLLATION=SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS did not help. I'm out of options. i spent hours googling after the errors, trying tons of solutions, but nothing seems to work. Sure running the SQL server on the SCCM server would solve some problems, but i want to reflect the test lab to the production environment where also a seperate sql server is running. help is much appriciated:) Thanks in advance.

Hi, Can you check that you have written correct 'instance name' on database information wizard during installation? If its default the Instance Name should be blank.

Hi, As you are using a Domain User account for the SQL service, have you configured the SPN for SQL? If you use the Local System Account for SQl the SPN is registered automatically, when you run it using a service account you need to do it manually.. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/59bca6ce-f3ab-4cae-8d05-1780fa5bc107#BKMK_ManageSPNforDBSrv Could that be the issues? Are there more details on you error in the ConfigMgrSetup.log or ConfigMgrPrereq.log log file? Regards, Jrgen-- My System Center blog ccmexec.com -- Twitter @ccmexec

Hi, @ Henrik: Thanks a lot for the link. i must have missed it scrolling through the system center forums, searching for the SCCM2012 forum. My apologies. @ Praveen: Your suggestion made the most errors disappear! after leaving the instance blank i got only the sql sysadmin error left. @ Jorgen: Thanks also for the link. Indeed i hadn't registered a SPN for the service account. after changing the logon name from NETWORK SERVICE to the service account the error didn't came back. after that i was left with the only error complaining that i hadn't have any sql sysadmin accounts. Although i ran the setup as domain\administrator (which is enterprise admin by default) and having the domain\administrator account added the the sql sysadmin role, i kept getting this error. strange for the most powerfull account. i solved it by running the SCCM setup under another user account (made a seperate sccm admin user) and then the error disappeared. However i was surprised by two new warnings complaining about the Memory, which i didn't get when installing under de domain\administrator account. Guys, you really made my day!. Thanks a lot for the quick and usefull anwers!!!
