Rundll error on SCCM 2007 Advanced client upgrade of SMS 2003 Advanced client
Hello- We have one user that is getting the following error that displays every 10 minutes or so since we pushed the SCCM client upgrade to his workstation. We have manually removed the SCCM client and the messages stop. A reinstallation of the SCCM and it occur's again. I've done some searching for this message but not much comes up. Any help would be greatly approciated. Thanks RUNDLL: An exception occurred while trying to run ""C:\Windows\System32\CCM\RTConfiguration.dll",SMSInstallRCDriver". We have noted the following EventID that started during the push, stopped when we removed the client, and started again when it was redeployed. I don't understand why this is occurring when we have pushed to many other systems using the same method and they have upgraded the client without issues Event ID 63 A provider, PolicyAgentInstanceProvider, has been registered in the WMI namespace, root\CCM\Policy\Machine, to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775090.aspx This system is a Windows XP SP2 system.

Have you rebooted the computer after removing the client? Sounds like the .dll file is not able to be overwritten.

Are you installing remote tools as part of your client install? Does the Local System account have execute permissions on that namespace in WMI? Does the error go away after the client installs and gets policies? Regards.

We did reboot the system after removing the client and performed the installation manually using a local administraor account with the same results.

We are installing the default Advanced client for SCCM 2007 that is updating a default advanced SMS 2003 client. We have identified a second system that is having this issue but this system is not getting the Event ID that is referenced in my original post so it does not appear that is the issue. We have noted that both of these systems in addition to having the SMS 2003 advanced client, the SMS 2003 Console was installed so we; 1. Removed the SMS Console 2. Removed the SCCM Advanced client upgrade 3. Restarted the system 4. Logged in using an administrative account with local permissions and full access to the SCCM shares and installed the SCCM 2007 client 5. Error occurred during the installation as well as after recieving the policies.

Were you able to find a solution to this problem? I am also receiving said error but have not been able to localize why it is giving the message.

Same problem here, in the application event log we see lots of event id's 63 with messages like this: A provider, PolicyAgentInstanceProvider, has been registered in the WMI namespace, root\CCM\Policy\Machine, to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests. A provider, SmsClientMethodProvider, has been registered in the WMI namespace, root\ccm, to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests. A provider, SmsDesiredConfigurationProvider, has been registered in the WMI namespace, root\ccm\dcm, to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests. ... We are also upgrading from old SMS2K3 to new SCCM clients. It are also Windows XP machines... Anyone?
