Routing and Remote Access MP for SCOM 2012 (Not Discovering)

Hello I've recently imported the "System Center Management Pack for RemoteAcess 2012" to monitor our DirectAccess instance and I am having no luck with getting SCOM to discover the 2 servers as RemoteAccess/DirectAccess servers.

I have have followed the instructions specified in the guide which states:

Security Considerations

You may need to customize your management pack. The management pack will try to execute the following commandlets on the monitored servers

  1. Get-RemoteAccess
  2. Get-DAMultisite
  3. Get-RemoteAccessHealth

The Run As Account configured needs to have read permissions for the DirectAccess Server GPO.  The configured account also needs the local admin permissions on all the Remote Access Servers. It is highly recommended that you use a separate security group for the accounts configured for Operations Manager 2012.

Please help!

Alex

Hi,

Please flush health service states and caches for those server first, and restart health services on those server, and then check the result.

You may log on the RemoteAccess/DirectAccess servers, check operation manager event log for more information to help troublethoos this issue.

Hello Yan - Tried flushing health service and it's still not discovering. Even went as far as stopping the Health Service, renaming the "Health Service State" folder and restarted Health Service.  I saw in the event log

New Management Pack with id:"Microsoft.Windows.RemoteAccess.2012.Monitoring", version:"7.0.8560.0" received.

Other than that, I didn't see anything in the logs that would indicate an error.  The only thing I can think of is our DA is running off of Win 2012 R2 and the MP only supports 2012.

Hello again Yan,

It looks like M$ released an updated version MP which now supports Windows Server 2012 R2 RemoteAccess/DirectAccess however I'm still not able to get our servers with this role discovered.  I stopped the Health Service, renamed the C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager\Agent\Health Service State folder and restarted Health Service.  I didn't see any event logs indicating there are issues after the Health Service was restarted.  Any other suggestions you want to toss my way?

Hi,

We may need to find the discovery to check whether it is enabled.

Please go through the management pack guide and follow it to configure the management pack.

In addition, it is suggested to open a new thread to get further assistance.

Have a nice day!

Yan Li

Hi all!

That MP is still not working...

The seed discovery just works fine, however, the second PS discovery does not.

Further, there is no Run As Profile foreseen in the MP and so the security considerations only apply in case you run the agent under a domain account instead of local system.

Anyone further investigated in that?

Update: since I expect that to be a bug (at least the missing run as profile) I created a bug on connect, please vote: https://connect.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/feedback/details/1112123

We also had this issue, opened a case with support, and they agree with your post that this has been found to be a bug.
