Root management server stops responding
Just about every 24 hours my SCE server basically locks up. I have SCE installed on one machine with SQL Express. Once the problem occurs I can't even log on to the machine so I have to reset it. Once reset I get a number of alerts: Alert: Root Management Server Unavailable. Source: nwms.chacon.local Path: nwms.chacon.local Last modified by: System Last modified time: 10/9/2008 10:24:03 AM Alert description: The root management server (Healthservice) has stopped heartbeating soon after 10/8/2008 10:53:34 AM. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. One or more workflows were affected by this. Workflow name: Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Deployment.Component Here is the entry I get in the ops manger event logs as the error occurs: Event Type:ErrorEvent Source:Health Service ESE StoreEvent Category:Transaction Manager Event ID:623Date:10/8/2008Time:10:53:43 AMUser:N/AComputer:NWMSDescription:HealthService (1648) The version store for this instance (0) has reached its maximum size of 80Mb. Can anyone help me with this? I'm about to do a full uninstall and reinstall if I can't fix this.

Hi,From this error:HealthService (1648) The version store for this instance (0) has reached its maximum size of 80Mb. It is likely that a long-running transaction is preventing cleanup of the version store and causing it to build up in size. Updates will be rejected until the long-running transaction has been completely committed or rolled back. It indicated that the ESE store is full, I'd like to suggest you clear the Health Service cache:1. Stop Health Service on your SCE server.2. Open a windows explorer, navigate to %programfiles%\system center essentials 2007\health service state\health service store\3. Delete all the files under this folder, then restart the health service.--------------------Regards,Eric Zhang

Is this size limit accurate? Ours is currently 374MB but I have not received Event ID 623. What problem I do have isEvent ID 31569 Exception 'SqlException': Timeout expired and is supposed to be fixed by HotFixhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/954643. I've applied this and still get the timeouts. So maybe this 80MB limit is my problem? Can someone please verify?thanks
