Role Specific Custom List Views
Hi, I had the same problem which I've resolved successfully .Problem: I created a Master list but wanted to give my users diff views bassed on the dept they work in. So HR -Benefits person should only be able to view HR-benefits records from the list. Now I can create diff views but there can only be one default so the users will still see other views/records that I had created. In order to think of another solution(this works beautifully though), heres what I did:Resolution:1.Created diff views: Benefits, Audit etc. (Turn Target Audience On)2. Created diff groups of people : Benefits group, Audit Group etc.3.Clicked on Edit page(Site settings) where I wanted to show this list:: then, selected the list as a web part and then clicked on "modify Shared Web part".4. From the dialog box that opens up on the right: (i.)selected the view I wanted e.g. Benefits (ii) Advanced-> Selected benefits group in Target Audiences field.5.Thats it. Now all the ppl whom I added to the Benefits group only will be able to view this view. 6.I can keep adding views on this page targetd for the user groups that I created. This has been working great so far. I wonder why I didnt see this answer anywhere on the net.Let me know if someone wants details and I can help.
