Retired DPM disks, DPM2010

Hi.

After migrating data and removing disk from DPM storage pool i now want to use the disk i windows.

How can i make the disk availible for windows?

Hi,

If you used the DPM powershell MigrateDatasourceDataFromDPM.PS1 to migrate to new disks, the old disks should remain intact until all the recovery points expire.  At that time the DPM volumes will be deleted and the disk will just be all free space.  You can then reuse the disk as is, or convert it to basic if under 2TB.

NOTE: If the retention period has not passed and that is the reason the volmes have not yet been removed by DPM, and you still want to remove the disk because the recovery points on the new disk is good enought, then you can modify the PG and reduce the retention period.  Run the pruneshadowcopies2010.ps1 power shell script to expire the RP's and then see if the volumes are automatically deleted by DPM.
