Restrictions are reseted after a reboot
Hi everybody, I have Steady State 2.5 running on a Win XP Pro SP3 Machine. The PC is part of a Novell 4.91 SP4 Network. I’d like to turn off some Windows Features like adding Printers, access to the Registry editor and so on for a Novell User. Hard Disk protection is not on. Its running and working that way for 13 other PC and Users. The PCs are clones prepared with sysprep and NEW-SID. I have the problem that Steady State resets the restrictions after rebooting. Sometimes its sets them all to High Restrictions or to Custom Restrictions witch I didn’t choose. Also I’ve got the Wallpaper problem witch I can’t solve by copying the wallpaper1.bmp into the all Users directory. I can see the wallpaper for about 3 sek and then it’s replaced by the Microsoft standard blue. Any advise would be helpful Thanks Michael

Workaround I have solved my problem by not using Steady State anymore. I don´t need much features so I´ve looked up the Reg Keys for those. Here they are for anybody who meight need them. They are quiet self explaining. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "DisallowRun"=dword:1 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisallowRun] "[RSW:VALUELIST]"="hypertrm.exe" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoNetworkConnections"=dword:1 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies] "WriteProtect"=dword:1 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoAddPrinter"=dword:1 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoSetFolders"=dword:1 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoCDBurning"=dword:1 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "Start_ShowNetConn"=dword:0 "Start_ShowNetPlaces"=dword:0 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "Wallpaper"="C:\\HG\\Desktop-HG-blau-1024.jpg" "WallpaperStyle"="2" The CURRENT_USER Key must be changed in the profile for the user you want to cut, in the USER tree you have to find the right User wich looks liks S-1-5-xxxxxxx. From my point of view this tread can be colsed. Thanks Michael
